Finally, after three years of construction, Allianz arena was opened on May 30, 2005 at Fröttmaning, Munich. The opening matches of Allianz Arena were conducted by FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich (popularly known as the Lions).
Of the two home teams, TSV 1860 played first on 30 May 2005 against FC Nuernberg in a traditional Bavarian derby. On the next day, the Bayern lined up on the new turf against German national team.
The new bubbly football stadium looks and feels as light as an airship.
